<< From the darkness and solitude of the celestial depths, they burst out to the light in a blend of colors with dreamlike shades. >>
Alpha du Centaure is a French lunar post-rock quartet. Created in the south of France, it took on its current shape in 2016. Their music, tinged with shoegaze, does not conceal its influences (Slowdive, Alcest or even Mogwai) but sometimes blends them with sounds from jazz and pop music. Inspired by vast and remote lands, their melodies transport us into weightlessness.
Started as a solo project by Cédric, who plays the guitar, the band was soon joined by Gaël, also on the guitar. Together, they set the atmospheric and melancholic roots of the first EP. As two DIY enthusiasts, they settled in an attic in Aramon (a small village located between Nîmes and Avignon) to record their first EP called "La couleur de mes rêves" (The color of my dreams). This first EP, available for free download since November 2015, has gained some notoriety thanks to several webzines, blogs, radio stations and online radio. Motivated by such positive feedback, they decided to start playing live, joined by Florian on drums and Rémi on bass and moog.
They played their first gigs by late 2016 and opened for the "Plug and Play", an independent music festival set in Kraspek Myzik in Lyon in early 2017. The band released their second EP called "Le déséquilibre originel" (The original disequilibrium) via Pyrrhic Victory Recordings in November 2018, Enter the Paralysis - Live Session (with video) in December 2019, and have now released their first full length "Paralysis" In September 2020 via the band's new label Stellar Frequencies. In a short amount of time, Alpha du Centaure has solidified their reputation as a solid, driving, thought provoking post-rock outfit and have already started building an output that requires attention to keep up with.
