John Steele - drums
Joe Vocaturo - guitar & vocals
Josh Silverman - guitar & vocals
Jeff Gashler - bass

In the fall of 2004 in NNJ Josh Silverman (Shirk Circus) decided it was time to make some music again after a brief hiatus. He recruited John Steele (Electric Frankenstein) for a recording project for some new material he had been working on. Silverman and Steele had worked together in 1997 on the Johnny and the Hasbeens cd titled Dead Pool so it didn't take long for Josh to decide who he wanted to drum on his new material. Josh also had been working with fellow guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Joe Vocaturo (Puggle) and decided to arrange the new material around two guitars and two vocalists for a deeper sound. A sort of supergroup was being developed and with the addition of bassist Jeff Gashler the band was ready to work. Josh decided on the bandname nicked from the 1980's porn film makers, and kept it kitschy with low budget horror movie imagery but the music was pure indie/alt country. The DB were born.

In the summer of 2005 the band recorded its first cd Karma Kills at Homebrew Studio in Bellevile NJ which was comprised mostly of Silverman and Puggle's material they had given new life to from their previous bands, and a few of Josh's newer songs brought out for the first time. In 2007 the band recorded their second cd titled the 7 Steps to Enlightenment, recorded at Mix-O-Lydian, which was all brand new material the band had written, taking them in a new direction. That new direction was a darker/heavier, more riff-oriented heavy rock sound. The progression would be a short lived one however when the DB disbanded in the summer of 2010 and Vocaturo and Steele formed the 65's. Sadly, we lost Josh in early 2011. If you're a fan of the 65's or Shirk Circus, here's the band that preceded the 65's and followed Shirk...enjoy :)
