leaked review: Bob McCreary / Blood Makes Noise fanzine / Fall 2014 edition

"Wait a minute, where am I? What year is this?? Where are we going Friday night, The Dirt Club? Aldo's? Sneekers in Passaic? No this isn't the 80's anymore. Dynasty isn't on primetime. Moonlighting isn't the biggest hit of the season...so WHY is Voice of Doom releasing new material? Who asked for this? I guess when I asked for a Commodore 64 I got Windows 8 instead. But it's true, the Doom club has reformed (not sure if it's for good this time) but long enough to make some new noise. One thing that's different right off the top is the new "Voice".  Mr Steele has relinquished his vocal duties to the one named demon "Evilheim" and from what I've heard so far, they're pretty angry about cereal and lesser liked horror movies from the 80's and 90's. I guess in a way they're doing what every good horror punk band does, but this time it's got a splash of hard rock, less metal and tongue planted firmly in cheek. Not taking themselves too seriously, but still putting everything on 10. Gone from the folds is London May on drums but the core is still there, so it's not a VOD cover band at least. That's one thing to be happy about. Nice to see guys from that era still alive. I think there's enough room in the world for a throwback treat...it's slated for a Halloween release on PVR recordings, so get yourself a nice big bowl of monster cereal, put the Halloween marathon on your TV and crank up VOD. Just don't go looking for the clubs I mentioned, they are looooooong gone."
